The Seattle Public Library.

Building and honoring community through strategic video storytelling.

The Seattle Public Library (SPL) puts Seattle residents at the heart of everything they do—so it was a natural next step to crowdsource feedback when building its ten-year growth strategy. Now that the strategy was complete, SPL needed a way to communicate its future growth plans to its diverse audience. And SPL needed it fast. Additionally, the story had to be easily translated into four different languages to ensure that the final message could be enjoyed by everyone.

SPL tasked Agency Noir with this initiative, knowing that we could move nimbly without sacrificing story, creative vision, or accessibility. Our team successfully concepted, produced, and packaged a video that showcased SPL’s new plans in a beautiful, unique way.

We used honeycomb imagery to represent the buzzing network of library branches. An airy, optimistic music track gently guided our audience through the video while a soft, timeless watercolor palette tied the visuals together, creating an atmosphere that was fresh and exciting, but still felt true to the SPL brand identity.

The end result was an easy-to-understand YouTube video that was as empowering as it was accessible—uniting the SPL audience under the shared values of community, education, and connection.
